New Delhi: GAIL (India) Limited has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with ONGC at the India Energy Week (IEW) 2026 in Goa. The agreement was formalized by Shri Sanjay Agarwal, Executive Director (Business Development), GAIL, in the presence of Shri R.K. Singhal, Director (Business Development), GAIL, and senior officials from both organizations.

From ONGC, the MoU was witnessed by Shri Arunangshu Sarkar, Director (S&CA) and Shri O.P. Sinha, Director (Exploration), alongside other senior executives.


Scope of the Strategic Collaboration

  • Joint Evaluation of Domestic Upstream Opportunities: The MoU focuses on identifying and assessing upstream Exploration & Production (E&P) projects within India.

  • Potential Joint Ventures: Both companies aim to participate in domestic upstream projects jointly, leveraging technical and operational synergies.

  • Contribution to Energy Security: The collaboration is expected to strengthen India’s energy security by increasing domestic production and reducing import dependence.
