NTPC and Octopus Energy UK Sign MoU for Clean Energy, EV Infrastructure & Digital Utilities
New Delhi, 19 March 2026: NTPC Limited, India’s largest integrated power utility, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Octopus Energy Group, a UK-based leader in clean energy and digital energy platforms, to advance collaboration in the power and energy sector. The signing took place during the Bharat Electricity Summit 2026, held under the aegis of the Ministry of Power, Government of India, from 19–22 March 2026.
The MoU was signed by Dr. Jatinder Singh Chandok, Head of International Business Development, NTPC, and Mr. Chris Fitzgerald, Group Director, International Affairs, Octopus Energy. Senior officials present included Sh. Pankaj Agarwal, Secretary (Ministry of Power, GoI), Sh. Piyush Singh, Additional Secretary (Ministry of Power, GoI), Sh. Gurdeep Singh, CMD, NTPC, and Ms. Renu Narang, CEO, NVVN.
Scope of Collaboration
The non-binding MoU aims to create a strategic framework to identify, assess, and pursue opportunities across the power sector, including:

Electricity distribution and retail solutions

Renewable energy projects and storage solutions

Electric Vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure development

Digital energy platforms and smart utilities

Innovation, research & development, and capacity building
The partnership will initially focus on projects in India and the United Kingdom, with potential expansion into other mutually agreed geographies. It emphasizes enhancing efficiency, affordability, reliability, and accelerating the adoption of clean energy technologies globally.

This MoU marks a significant step in NTPC’s strategy to integrate clean energy, digital transformation, and sustainable energy solutions. By leveraging Octopus Energy’s expertise in innovative digital energy platforms, NTPC aims to strengthen its capabilities in renewable integration, EV infrastructure, and customer-centric energy solutions, aligning with India’s renewable energy targets and global climate commitments.
