The Union Cabinet has approved a financial package of approximately Rs 6,000 crore to accelerate the expansion of the 4G network for Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) and Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Limited (MTNL). This funding aims to support both state-owned telecom companies in strengthening and enhancing their network infrastructure.

According to reports, the approved funds will be utilized to improve BSNL and MTNL’s 4G network coverage across the country. As part of the plan, around 100,000 4G sites will be established to enhance connectivity and provide better network services for consumers.

The report emphasizes that an additional Rs 6,000 crore is needed to fully implement the expansion. The government has already provided financial support totaling Rs 3.22 lakh crore to BSNL and MTNL through three separate revival packages.

As part of this initiative, BSNL and MTNL have entered into a 10-year agreement to share their 4G networks. This collaboration aims to optimize resources and improve service delivery for customers.
