Shri Pankaj Kumar Gupta Assumes Charge as Head of Project, NTPC Kanti
New Delhi: Shri Pankaj Kumar Gupta has assumed charge as Head of Project at NTPC Kanti. He currently serves as Chief General Manager and has more than 34 years of experience in the power sector.
Shri Gupta joined NTPC in 1991 as an Executive Trainee and has since held several key positions across the organisation. During his distinguished career, he has made significant contributions to project engineering, mechanical systems, energy transition, environmental management, and strategic planning. He has served at NTPC Kahalgaon, the Corporate Centre, the Energy Transition & Policy Group, and, most recently, at NTPC Meja, where he handled several important assignments.

Academically, Shri Gupta has an outstanding record. He holds a B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering from Lucknow University and an M.Tech in Applied Mechanics from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Delhi. He has also participated in numerous national and international programmes on leadership development, clean energy technologies, sustainability, project management and emerging energy solutions, enriching his professional expertise over the years.
NTPC Kanti, with a capacity of 390 MW, is one of Bihar’s leading power-generating stations and plays a vital role in meeting the growing energy requirements of Bihar and the Eastern Region. The station has consistently performed well in operations, safety, environmental stewardship, and stakeholder engagement.
NTPC Kanti remains committed to inclusive and sustainable development through impactful CSR initiatives such as the Girl Empowerment Mission (GEM), education, healthcare and community welfare programmes. Alongside reliable power generation, the station continues to promote environmental sustainability through plantation drives, water conservation and green initiatives.
