SCOPE for bringing NGOs under ambit of CAG and RTI
NEW DELHI. Dr. U.D. Choubey, Director General, SCOPE emphasized the need of bringing those NGOs who are utilizing public money for CSR under the ambit of CAG and RTI and undertake social audit through an independent agency. He was speaking on the sidelines of a seminar coinciding with CSR Fair 2017 organized by Department of Public Enterprises.
Dr. Choubey informed that CPSEs incurred about Rs. 4,100 crore during 2015-16 as against Rs.2450 crore in 2014-15. He emphasized the need of larger proportion of allocation under CSR to rural areas as around 70 percent of our population lives in villages.
DG, SCOPE called for providing integrated facilities for internal roads, health, sanitation, education, skill development, internet etc. Tiny and micro industries could be set up and such product could be marketed through appropriate supply chain management. This will enhance the economy in villages and increase the Human Happiness Index, Dr. Choubey added.
