New Delhi: Dedicated Freight Corridor Corporation of India Limited (DFCCIL) dedicated a developed 2.75 km long and up to 25 metres high viaduct Freight Corridor's Dadri - Rewari section in Sohna, Haryana.
The Western Dedicated Freight Corridor covers a distance of 1504 km of double line electric (2 X 25 KV) track from JNPT to Dadri via Vadodara-Ahmedabad-Palanpur-Phulera-Rewari. Alignment has been generally kept parallel to existing lines except the provision of detour at Diva, Surat, Ankleshwar, Bharuch, Vadodara, Anand, Ahmedabad, Palanpur, Phulera, and Rewari.
The Western Corridor passes through 5 states as follows:-
1. Haryana
2. Rajasthan
3. Gujarat
4. Maharashtra
5. Uttar Pradesh
DFCCIL on dedicating high viaduct mentioned, "From the womb of Mother Earth, through the skies and touching down in the cosmopolis of Sohna in Haryana on WDFC's Dadri- Rewari section, the 2.75 km long & (upto) 25 metres high viaduct is a marvel of engineering."
It ensures greater airflow, availability of sunlight and less environmental impact on surrounding habitat vis-a-vis an earthen embankment by reducing excavation.
