Dr. Prasanna Kumar Acharya assumes charge as Director (Finance) of NLC India
He takes charge as Director (Finance) in NLC India Limited where he has had a valuable brief stint earlier in a senior position.
New Delhi: Dr. Prasanna Kumar Acharya assumed charge as Director (Finance) of NLC India Limited today, 15.01.2024, at Chennai.
A seasoned professional with nearly three decades of rich experience with leading Indian companies across sectors, he has held key positions in GRIDCO, NTPC and Tata Power before taking over as Director (Finance) at Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) in June 2022. Dr. Prasanna Kumar Acharya holds a Bachelor's degree in Commerce (Honors) from Utkal University, Odisha, and a Bachelor's in Law (LLB) from MS Law College, Cuttack, Odisha. He further pursued a Master's in Commerce from Ravenshaw University, Odisha, and obtained a Master's in Business Administration (MBA).
Dr. Acharya is also a Fellow member of the Institute of Cost and Management Accountants and an Associate Member of the Institute of Company Secretaries of India. His educational journey culminated with a Doctorate in Philosophy (Ph.D) from Utkal University, Odisha. He has also participated in a Management Development Programme (Strategic Finance) from IIM, Lucknow.

Dr. Acharya has successfully closed financial deals, securing loans totaling thirty-five thousand crores with Multilateral Banks such as JICA, ADB, NDB, and AIIB. He also pioneered the tying up of loans with Domestic Banks for his company. Notably, he played a crucial role in the Phase-II Project of CMRL, which had a substantial worth of over sixty-three thousand Crores.
He brings on-board his vast experience and insight into Accounts, Taxation, Project Finance and Fund-raising. With experience in varied areas of finance coupled with his broad vision and strategic acumen, his tenure as Director (Finance) of NLCIL is expected to be pro-active in creating a healthy financial portfolio for the company with focus on corporate finance, system improvement, collaboration initiatives, asset monetization and financial Restructuring which are his strengths, in tune with the company’s requirements.
He hails from Kendrapara, Odisha, and on the personal front, he is supported by his wife, who is a Housewife, and their two children, both of whom are pursuing their studies.Read Also : HPCL and Birmingham University join hands
