New Delhi June 20, 2025. NHPC's 500 MW Teesta-VI Hydroelectric Project in Sikkim has made considerable progress, achieving key milestones in Head Race Tunnel (HRT) excavation and overt lining as of June 19, 2025. These milestones represent an important step toward finishing the remaining work for this ambitious project.

Project officials announced that excavation in the Head Race Tunnel (HRT) has reached a total of 11,000 meters. At the same time, the vital overt lining work in the HRT has progressed by 6,000 meters.

The Head Race Tunnel is a key part of any hydroelectric project. It channels water from the reservoir to the power generation turbines. The progress in both excavation and lining shows that the project is on track and committed to completing it on time.
