NTPC Green Energy Ltd (NGEL), a subsidiary of the public sector energy giant NTPC, has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Indus Towers Ltd to work together towards achieving India's green energy targets and the goal of a carbon-neutral economy.
The main aim of this MoU is to collaborate on the development of grid-connected renewable energy projects, which could include solar, wind, energy storage, or other related solutions.
Indus Towers Ltd (ITL) aims to gradually expand its renewable energy portfolio to giga-watt (GW) scale capacity for its business operations spread across the country as part of its net zero energy commitments.
Read Also : IndusInd Bank Q1 FY25 results, net profit at 2% YoYThe MoU was signed on Thursday by Soumya Kanti Chowdhuri, CEO, of NGEL, and Vikas Poddar, Chief Financial Officer (CFO), ITL, in the presence of other senior officials from NTPC and ITL.
NTPC is India’s largest power utility whose core business is power generation, with a total installed capacity of 76 GW. It has ambitious plans to reach 60 GW of renewable energy capacity by 2032 and currently has 3.5 GW of installed renewable energy capacity and over 28 GW under construction.
While, Indus Tower, India’s leading passive telecom infrastructure provider, deploys, owns, and manages over 2,11,775 telecom towers and communication structures. Present in all 22 telecom circles, Indus Towers serves wireless telecom service providers in India.
