Key Details of the Tidong Hydro Project

  • Capacity: 150 MW run-of-river hydroelectric power plant.

  • Location: Tidong Valley, Kinnaur district, Himachal Pradesh.

  • Expected Commissioning: October 2026.

  • Power Purchase Agreement (PPA): 75 MW (50% of capacity) is tied up with Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Ltd. at a lucrative fixed tariff of ₹5.57/KWh for the high-demand months of May to October.

  • Merchant Sales Potential: The remaining 75 MW capacity is currently untied, offering significant upside through merchant market sales in a power-deficit market.

Strategic Rationale & Synergies

This acquisition solidifies JSW Energy's position as India's largest private hydropower player. Tidong Power becomes the company's fourth hydro asset in Himachal Pradesh, enabling operational synergies with its existing Karcham Wangtoo plant. The project, in advanced stages of construction, is expected to be value-accretive in the near term and enhance EBITDA from FY27 onwards, supported by its remunerative tariff structure.

JSW Energy's Growth Trajectory

With this addition, JSW Energy's total locked-in generation capacity stands at 32.1 GW, comprising:

  • 13.3 GW operational

  • 14.2 GW under construction (across thermal, hydro, and renewables)

  • 4.6 GW pipeline

The company is also aggressively building its energy storage portfolio, with 29.6 GWh of locked-in capacity (26.4 GWh from hydro-pumped storage and 3.2 GWh from battery storage).

JSW Energy remains committed to its ambitious goals: achieving 30 GW of generation capacity and 40 GWh of energy storage capacity by 2030, and Carbon Neutrality by 2050.
