Mumbai: KPI Green Energy Limited has achieved a major milestone by receiving the Commissioning Certificate for 16.16 MWdc of solar power projects under its Independent Power Producer (IPP) segment, implemented through the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Urja Suraksha evam Utthaan Mahabhiyan (PM-KUSUM) Scheme.
These projects, operational in the Dakshin Gujarat Vij Company Limited (DGVCL) area, represent the largest capacity installed under the scheme in the region, and were commissioned in record time. The solar plants are now supplying reliable renewable energy for agricultural pumping, providing farmers with dependable daytime power while reducing reliance on diesel-based electricity.
Supporting Farmers and Sustainability
The PM-KUSUM initiative is a flagship program of the Government of India aimed at:
-
Enhancing energy and water security for farmers
-
Promoting sustainable agriculture and reducing carbon footprint
-
Boosting decentralized solar energy adoption across rural areas
With these newly commissioned projects, KPI Green Energy is demonstrating strong execution capabilities and reinforcing its commitment to government-led renewable energy goals and farmer welfare initiatives.
Strategic Impact
The 16.16 MWdc projects strengthen Gujarat’s renewable energy infrastructure and contribute to India’s larger clean energy transition. By providing solar power directly to agricultural operations, the projects reduce operational costs for farmers and improve the efficiency and reliability of irrigation systems.
KPI Green Energy’s proactive rollout under PM-KUSUM sets an example for other renewable developers and showcases the potential of public–private collaboration in expanding India’s decentralized solar energy footprint.
