Suzlon Appoints Industry Veteran Ashok Ramachandran as President, India Business
Pune, June 1, 2026: Renewable energy major Suzlon Energy Limited has announced the appointment of Ashok Ramachandran as President – India Business and Senior Managerial Personnel (SMP), effective June 4, 2026. The strategic appointment comes as the company accelerates its growth plans and strengthens its position in India’s rapidly expanding wind energy sector.
Ramachandran will report directly to the Chief Executive Officer of Suzlon Group and will play a key role in driving the company’s next phase of operational and business expansion across India.
With more than two decades of global leadership experience spanning renewable energy, industrial products, manufacturing, and vertical mobility sectors, Ramachandran brings a proven track record of leading large-scale business transformations and driving sustainable growth across India, Southeast Asia, and Australia.
Prior to joining Suzlon, he served as Chief Operating Officer and Board Member at JSW, where he played a significant role in shaping the company’s long-term growth strategy. During his tenure, JSW's renewable energy capacity expanded from nearly 5 GW to 30 GW within approximately three years.
Before JSW, Ramachandran spent a substantial part of his career with the Schindler Group. As CEO and President of Schindler India and South Asia, he led the company’s manufacturing, operations, and research and development activities across key markets. Under his leadership, the company’s revenues reportedly grew threefold, increasing from ₹1,000 crore to ₹3,000 crore.
Commenting on the appointment, Suzlon Vice Chairman Girish Tanti said India’s wind energy industry is entering a high-growth phase, with record installations achieved in recent years and significant opportunities expected in the coming decade. He noted that Ramachandran’s expertise in operational scaling and execution-led transformation would further strengthen Suzlon’s market leadership.
Suzlon Group CEO Ajay Kapur emphasized that the company’s objective extends beyond maintaining market leadership to expanding the overall renewable energy ecosystem. He expressed confidence that Ramachandran’s experience would help Suzlon enhance operational excellence and accelerate growth.
Speaking on his appointment, Ashok Ramachandran said Suzlon has played a defining role in India’s renewable energy journey and remains one of the country's most respected clean energy companies.
