New Delhi: Government-backed Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) has filed a commercial lawsuit against Karnataka Power Corporation Ltd. (KPCL) to recover the outstanding dues of Rs 542.14 crore.

The case has been filed in the helm of the Bengaluru City Civil and Sessions Judge, pertaining to recall payments owed under an Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) contract for a unit of the Bellary Thermal Power Station.

As per the filing made, BHEL has filed a suit before the Bengaluru City Civil and Session Judge seeking a recovery of amounts due to BHEL under EPC contract for a unit of Bellary Thermal Power Station from Karnataka Power Corporation Ltd.

This action by the Public Sector unit shows BHEL's attempts to obtain prompt payments and protect its financial interests during continuous business activity. Further developments in the case are likely to be closely followed by investors and stakeholders of both BHEL and KPCL.

Bellary Thermal Power Station is located in Kudatini Village, Bellary District in Karnataka.

BHEL-backed two coal-fired units of 500 MW each are in operation with a generating capacity of 12 million units per day and a 700 MW coal-fired unit with operation. The thermal electric power generating station is administered by KPCL a government of Karnataka undertaking.
