BPCL and Akasa Air Operate Commercial Flight on 1% SAF-Blended ATF
Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) and Akasa Air have successfully operated a commercial flight powered by Aviation Turbine Fuel (ATF) blended with 1% Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF).
The flight, QP1105 from Mumbai to Goa, marks an important milestone in demonstrating the readiness of SAF-blended fuel for commercial aviation in India.
Significance of the Flight
The operation strengthens India’s emerging Sustainable Aviation Fuel ecosystem and supports the aviation sector’s decarbonisation efforts. It builds on the Memorandum of Understanding signed between BPCL and Akasa Air in July 2026 to advance the development, supply and adoption of SAF in the country.
