CMPDI received Exploration License for Rare Earth Elements (REE) Block in Rajasthan
The certificate was received by Shri P. M. Prasad, Chairman, CIL; Shri Rajiva Kr. Singh, GM (Exploration), CMPDI; and Dr. R. P. Singh, Sr. Manager (Geology), CMPDI.

In a big boost to productivity, Coal India’s subsidiary, Central Mine Planning and Design Institute (CMPDI), has received the official Certificate of Exploration License for the Nawatala-Devigarh Rare Earth Elements (REE) Exploration Block in Rajasthan.
Shri G. Kishan Reddy, Union Minister of Coal and Mines, presented the certificate to CMPDI on 16.09.2025 at the National Seminar on the Centre of Excellence under the National Critical Mineral Mission held in Hyderabad.

The milestone strengthens CMPDI’s role in the strategic exploration of critical minerals vital for India’s industrial growth, clean energy technologies, high-tech applications, and defence sectors.
Further, it is mentioned as part of its diversification beyond coal and lignite, where the company has completed three bauxite exploration projects and one base metal (copper, lead, and zinc) exploration project, while exploration in a magnetite block is ongoing. These initiatives reflect CMPDI’s growing expertise and commitment to critical and strategic minerals vital for India’s security and industrial development.
