Cochin Shipyard Signs Mega LNG Feeder Vessel Contract with CMA CGM
Mumbai, February 18, 2026: Cochin Shipyard Limited (CSL) has officially signed a major shipbuilding contract with M/s. CMA CGM, France, marking a significant milestone in the construction of six feeder container vessels, each with a capacity of approximately 1,700 TEU and powered by liquefied natural gas (LNG).
The formal contract, executed today in New Delhi, follows the signing of a Letter of Intent (LOI) on October 14, 2025. This order is classified as a “Mega” order according to CSL’s internal order classification criteria, reflecting its high strategic and financial importance.
As per the contract terms, the first vessel is scheduled for delivery within 36 months, while the final vessel will be delivered within 64 months. This LNG-fuelled order underscores CSL’s commitment to building eco-friendly and energy-efficient shipping solutions, aligning with global maritime decarbonization trends.
Cochin Shipyard confirmed that neither its promoters nor group companies have any interest in CMA CGM, and the order does not qualify as a related party transaction.
