New Delhi: To ensure hassle-free access for metro commuters while entering/exiting from metro stations, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) today started a comprehensive encroachment removal drive at Lal Quila and Chandni Chowk Metro stations.

This drive, being organised in coordination with several other concerned agencies such as MCD, NDMC, DDA, and Delhi Police will continue till the 17th of June, 2023.

It has been observed that encroachments such as selling carts (Rehris), vendors, rickshaws, and other unauthorized establishments outside Metro stations cause inconvenience to the passengers at these locations. This drive is being taken up to mitigate these inconveniences. DMRC also keeps writing to the concerned agencies about these issues from time to time.

This special encroachment removal drive is being conducted at Gate No. I & 2 at Lal Quila and Gate No. 5 at Chandni Chowk Metro Stations daily up to 17th June 2023. Such special drives will also be undertaken for passenger convenience at other Metro stations in the days ahead.

Last month also, DMRC had undertaken a special drive at 11 eleven Metro stations to clear the pedestrian pathways from vendors, encroachers, and unauthorized hindrance caused by e-rickshaws, Autos etc.

DMRC has accorded a lot of focus on maintaining cleanliness, hygiene and disciplined commuter behaviour inside the Delhi Metro premises. These drives are now being organised to ensure that the areas outside the stations are also free from any form of encroachments.
