SCI Appoints Rear Admiral Jaswinder Singh as Additional Director (T&OS) Until August 2026

Mumbai: Shipping Corporation of India (SCI) has announced that Rear Admiral Jaswinder Singh, currently serving as Director (Liner & Passenger Services), will take over the additional charge of Director (Technical & Offshore Services) for a temporary period beginning June 1, 2026.

The development was disclosed through a regulatory filing submitted to both BSE Limited and National Stock Exchange of India Limited under Regulation 30 of the SEBI (Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements) Regulations, 2015.

According to the company, the approval was granted by the Hon’ble Minister of Ports, Shipping and Waterways through a ministry communication dated May 21, 2026. The appointment will remain effective from June 1, 2026, to August 31, 2026, or until a regular incumbent is appointed, whichever is earlier.

 

Ministry Approves Temporary Additional Charge

The Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways approved the entrustment of the additional role to Rear Admiral Jaswinder Singh for a period of three months.

SCI clarified that Rear Admiral Jaswinder Singh is not related to any director of the company and is not debarred from holding office by any order issued by SEBI or any other regulatory authority.

The company noted that the event officially occurred on May 21, 2026, at 5:20 PM.

 

 

Extensive Leadership Experience in Navy and Shipping

Rear Admiral Jaswinder Singh currently heads SCI’s Liner and Passenger Services division and previously handled the company’s Bulk and Tanker businesses for nearly 10 months until May 4, 2026.

He has also served as Director on the Board of SCI Bharat IFSC Ltd, a wholly owned subsidiary of SCI, until February 23, 2026. Subsequently, he was appointed to the boards of Inland and Coastal Shipping Ltd and Sethusamudram Corporation Ltd.

Before joining the commercial shipping sector, Rear Admiral Jaswinder Singh completed more than three decades of distinguished service in the Indian Navy. During his naval career, he held several high-ranking leadership roles, including:

  • Chief of Staff of Southern Naval Command

  • Assistant Chief of Naval Staff (Foreign Cooperation)

  • Principal Director at Naval Headquarters, New Delhi

  • Commanding Officer of Destroyers, Corvettes, and Training Establishments

 

Educational Background and Recognition

Rear Admiral Jaswinder Singh holds a postgraduate degree in Business Administration and is an alumnus of the Naval Postgraduate School in California, USA, and the Defence Services Staff College in Wellington, India.

For his distinguished service in the Indian Navy, he was awarded the prestigious Nau Sena Medal.
