Former MECL Officers Author Book on Coal and Lignite Exploration; Copy Presented to CMD Indra Dev Narayan
Nagpur, June 17, 2026: Former officers of Mineral Exploration and Consultancy Limited (MECL) have added another milestone to India's geoscience and mineral exploration sector with the publication of their book, Coal and Lignite Exploration in India. A copy of the book was formally presented to MECL Chairman and Managing Director (CMD), Shri Indra Dev Narayan, during a courtesy meeting at the company's Corporate Office.
The publication has been jointly authored by Dr. Gaurav Kumar Shukla, former Senior Manager (Geology), MECL, and Shri Krishna Kumar Kaushik, former General Manager and Head of Department (Exploration, IT & GS), MECL. Drawing upon decades of professional expertise, the book provides comprehensive insights into the exploration, evaluation, and development of coal and lignite resources in India.
Shri Krishna Kumar Kaushik dedicated more than 36 years of service to MECL and is widely recognized for his extensive experience in coal and lignite exploration. During his distinguished career, he played a key role in the exploration and assessment of several coal and lignite blocks across the country.
Dr. Gaurav Kumar Shukla has also made significant contributions to the mineral exploration sector through his expertise in geology, exploration strategy, and project management. Their collaborative work captures valuable technical knowledge and field experience accumulated over years of service in India's mineral exploration industry.
Congratulating the authors on their noteworthy academic and professional contribution, CMD Shri Indra Dev Narayan appreciated their efforts in documenting and sharing their vast experience for the benefit of geoscientists, researchers, students, and stakeholders in the mining and energy sectors.
