GAIL to Invest ₹1,736 Crore in 178.2 MW Wind Power Project in Maharashtra
New Delhi, February 27, 2026: GAIL (India) Limited has approved a major expansion of its renewable energy portfolio with the setting up of a 178.2 MW greenfield wind power project in Maharashtra. The decision was taken at the company’s Board meeting held on Thursday.
The project will involve an estimated investment of ₹1,736.25 crore and is expected to be completed within 24 months from the award of the LSTK (Lump Sum Turnkey) contract. The company plans to finance the project through a mix of debt and equity.
Currently, GAIL operates 117.95 MW of renewable energy capacity, which is running at full utilisation. The addition of 178.2 MW will significantly strengthen the company’s clean energy footprint and enhance its long-term sustainability profile.
The move reflects GAIL’s broader strategy to diversify its energy mix and support India’s transition towards renewable sources. With this expansion, the company aims to reinforce its presence in the green energy segment while driving business growth.
