The Annual Mines Safety Fortnight 2025-26 concluded at Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL) headquarters with a grand prize distribution ceremony honoring excellence in mining safety and innovation.

Shri Ujjwal Tah, Director General of Mines Safety, served as the chief guest. Alongside Shri Uday A Kaole, CMD of MCL, he unfurled the safety flag and paid tribute to coal miners by garlanding the miners’ statue at the company headquarters.

During the event, Shri Tah inaugurated exhibits set up by various MCL Areas and other companies, highlighting ongoing and future-ready safety innovations in the mining sector. He commended MCL for its consistent safety performance, noting that mining is vital to national development. He further emphasized that the integration of AI and modern technologies in mining operations has significantly reduced workplace hazards.

The ceremony was attended by Shri Shyam Sundar Prasad, Deputy Director General (DGMS), South Eastern Zone, Ranchi, along with MCL Functional Directors, CVO, Area General Managers, Heads of Departments, GMs, senior officials, and employees, celebrating the company’s commitment to safety, innovation, and responsible mining practices.
