NALCO Clarifies No Plans Yet for 200–300 MW Green Power Project with Battery Storage

New Delhi: National Aluminium Company Limited (NALCO), a Government of India enterprise, has clarified that it is not currently engaged in any negotiations or events related to setting up a 200–300 MW green power capacity backed by battery storage for low-carbon aluminium production.

The clarification was issued to stock exchanges following media reports suggesting that the company was exploring large-scale renewable energy capacity with storage solutions. In a formal disclosure to both BSE and NSE, NALCO stated that no such negotiations or decisions have taken place as of date.

However, the company confirmed that it is in the process of appointing a consultant to support its renewable energy (RE) transition, aimed at meeting present and future renewable energy obligations. This aligns with NALCO’s broader vision of energy transition and long-term sustainability goals.

Addressing market activity, NALCO said it is not aware of any undisclosed information that could explain recent movements in its stock price. The company noted that non-ferrous metal stocks have generally been witnessing an upward trend in recent trading sessions, and NALCO’s share movement is consistent with sectoral performance.

The company further clarified that the reported news has no material impact on its operations or financial position. It also confirmed that no regulatory or legal proceedings are underway in connection with the matter.

NALCO reiterated its commitment to strict compliance with SEBI (LODR) Regulations, 2015, stating that while it often shares its long-term vision on green energy and net-zero goals during media interactions, no official announcement or press release has been issued regarding the specific project mentioned in the media report.
