RailTel Bags Multiple Government Orders Worth Over ₹450 Crore in January 2026, Faces Selective Project Cancellations

New Delhi: RailTel Corporation of India Ltd, a Miniratna PSU under the Ministry of Railways, reported a strong start to calendar year 2026 by securing multiple large domestic contracts across government departments, railways, defence and digital infrastructure, cumulatively valued at over ₹450 crore during January. The company disclosed these developments to stock exchanges under Regulation 30 of SEBI Listing Regulations.

Major Order Wins Across Sectors

RailTel received a ₹140.71 crore work order from the Ministry of Defence for annual maintenance services, reinforcing its position as a trusted technology partner for India’s defence ecosystem. The contract will be executed up to January 2031.

In another significant win, RailTel secured a ₹101.82 crore project from the Public Financial Management System (PFMS) for establishment and managed operations of IT infrastructure, including Data Centres, Disaster Recovery facilities, Security Operations Centre (SOC) services and colocation support, with execution scheduled till January 2031.

The company also received a ₹88.66 crore Letter of Acceptance from Central Railway for supply, installation, testing and commissioning of IP-MPLS network equipment across multiple divisions including Mumbai, Pune, Nagpur and Solapur. The project aims to enable unified communication across Indian Railways.

Further strengthening its footprint in the power sector, RailTel bagged a ₹27.04 crore order from Andhra Pradesh Central Power Distribution Corporation Limited (APCPDCL) for supply and deployment of Software Defined Wide Area Network (SD-WAN) devices, including five years of warranty and support.

Healthcare and Digital Governance Projects

RailTel entered the healthcare digitalisation space with a ₹56.71 crore contract from Assam Health Infrastructure Development & Management Society (AHIDMS) for procurement, implementation and long-term maintenance of a Hospital Management Information System (HMIS), with execution planned until January 2032.

Additionally, the company secured a ₹15.99 crore cloud services contract from the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) and a ₹12.28 crore order from the Government of Tripura for internet connectivity in schools, supporting digital education initiatives.

Project Cancellations in Bihar

Alongside the order wins, RailTel informed exchanges about the cancellation of two previously awarded projects in Bihar by the Bihar Education Project Council (BEPC). These included:

  • A ₹89.91 crore project for supply of teaching learning material for Classes I–V

  • A ₹257.50 crore smart classroom project for government secondary and senior secondary schools

The cancellations were attributed to unavoidable reasons cited by the customer. RailTel clarified that these terminations do not involve related-party transactions.

Strategic Outlook

The diversified order inflow highlights RailTel’s expanding role beyond railway communications into defence, healthcare, education, power utilities and digital governance infrastructure. Despite selective project cancellations, the company’s strong January order book underlines stable demand for government-led digital transformation initiatives.

RailTel confirmed that none of the new contracts involve promoter or related-party interests.
