RVNL Emerges as Lowest Bidder for ₹242 Crore Railway Electrification Project

New Delhi: Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL), a leading public sector enterprise under the Ministry of Railways, has secured a major project in its normal course of business. The company informed the stock exchanges on January 27, 2026, that it has emerged as the Lowest Bidder (L1) for a significant railway electrification upgrade contract.

Project Details:

• Awarding Authority: South Central Railway

• Project Scope: Design, Supply, Erection, Testing and Commissioning for the upgrade of the Overhead Equipment (OHE) system.

• Key Technical Work: Upgradation of the existing 1X25kV system to a 2X25kV AT (Autotransformer) Feeding System, along with associated feeder and earthing works.

• Project Location: Ongole to Gudur section (154 Route Kilometers / 462 Track Kilometers) in the Vijayawada Division of South Central Railway.

• Contract Value: ₹242.50 Crores (approximately), inclusive of applicable taxes.

• Execution Timeline: 24 Months

Strategic Significance:

This project is a critical infrastructure upgrade that will enhance the efficiency and capacity of rail operations on a busy segment. The shift to a 2X25kV AT system allows for longer distances between substations, reduces energy losses, and improves voltage stability, enabling heavier freight loads and higher-speed passenger trains.
