Konkan Railway Vacancy 2026: Deputy Chief Mechanical Engineer on Deputation

Navi Mumbai, February 20, 2026: Konkan Railway Corporation Limited (KRCL), a Government of India undertaking, has issued Vacancy Notice No. DE/01/2026 for the post of Deputy Chief Mechanical Engineer. The position is open on deputation for officers from the Indian Railways.

No. of Vacancies: 2 posts in JAG/SG Scale
Location: Corporate Office, Belapur, Navi Mumbai
Tenure: 3 years (extendable up to 5 years)
Scale of Pay: As per 7th CPC Pay Matrix Level-12 or Level-13
Pay & Allowances: Pay admissible as per DOPT instructions, plus deputation (duty) allowance
Eligibility: Officers of Indian Railways Service of Mechanical Engineers (IRSME) in PML-12 or PML-13 of 7th CPC
Age Limit: Below 50 years as on the date of notification

Job Responsibilities

The Deputy Chief Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for:

Overseeing train operations, maintenance of rolling stock, and track machines
Managing fuel installations, disaster management, budgeting, and tenders
Liaison with Zonal Railways for operations and project-related activities
Supervision of rolling stock infrastructure, O&M, and technology projects
Additional duties assigned by the Chief Mechanical Engineer (CME), KRCL

The officer will retain Railway accommodation during the deputation tenure and receive pay and deputation allowance in accordance with Railway Board policies. KRCL is exempted from the rule of immediate absorption until 31st December 2026.
