Maruti Suzuki Approves Land Acquisition for Khoraj Industrial Estate Capacity Expansion
New Delhi, January 12, 2026: Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL) has received board approval to acquire land at the Khoraj Industrial Estate from the Gujarat Industrial Development Corporation (GIDC) to expand its production capacity.
The company currently operates an annual production capacity of approximately 2.4 million units across its Gurugram, Manesar, Kharkhoda, and Hansalpur facilities. This includes the capacity from the erstwhile Suzuki Motor Gujarat Private Limited, which has now been amalgamated with MSIL. The existing production facilities are operating at full capacity, prompting the need for expansion.
The proposed expansion aims to add up to 1 million units per annum, with the timeline and phases of capacity installation to be finalized by the board. The total cost of land acquisition, development, and preparatory activities has been approved at ₹4,960 crore, with funding expected to come through a combination of internal accruals and external borrowings.
The expansion is driven by growing domestic and export market demand, underscoring Maruti Suzuki’s commitment to strengthening its manufacturing footprint in India.
The move aligns with the company’s long-term strategy to meet rising consumer demand and maintain its leadership position in the passenger vehicle segment.
