New Delhi: The East Vinod Nagar Metro Station has been recognised for its outstanding energy conservation measures and practical sustainable practices to become the Best Performance Unit Award in the Metro Station Sector as part of the National Energy Conservation Awards (NECA) 2025 as awarded by Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC).

The Hon’ble President of India, Smt. Droupadi Murmu presented the award at the National Energy Conservation Day event at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi on December 14, 2025.

The award was presented to Dr. Vikas Kumar, Managing Director, DMRC, after an extensive evaluation by the Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE), Ministry of Power, based on applications submitted by various Metro Rail Systems throughout India.

In recent years (FY 2020/21 to FY 2022/23), the East Vinod Nagar Metro Station has demonstrated that over the past three years, it has maintained and decreased electrical energy consumption and energy performance index (EPI) through continuous evaluation and targeted conservation measures.

The two main elements contributing to these achievements are the replacement of traditional tube light fixtures with LED fixtures and installation/operation of a 150 kWp rooftop solar plant (which provides approximately 49%) of the total energy requirement of the East Vinod Nagar Metro Station.

The East Vinod Nagar Metro Station also has been rated IGBC Platinum rating, which further exemplifies DMRC’s commitment to providing sustainable and responsible urban mobility.
