New Delhi, March 2026: The Ministry of Railways has approved the extension of deputation for several senior officers of the Indian Railway Service to continue their roles with the Dedicated Freight Corridor Corporation of India Ltd. (DFCCIL). These extensions are part of the ongoing efforts to strengthen the execution of India’s freight corridor projects.

The approvals were issued by the Railway Board under the vetting of its Finance Directorate.


Officers Granted Deputation Extension

  1. Vineet Kumar Tyagi, IRSE – Formerly Sr.DEN, North Western Railway, has his deputation extended as GM/Civil, Ahmedabad for the fifth year, up to August 4, 2026.

  2. Deepak Kumar Gupta, IRSEE – Formerly Dy.CEE/HQ/CORE, deputed as GM/Cord./BRC, extension granted until September 26, 2027.

  3. Ajay Kumar, IRSE – Formerly CE/P&D, Eastern Railway, deputed with DFCCIL, extension approved until September 29, 2025, beyond the fifth year, without deputation allowance beyond five years.

These extensions ensure continuity in leadership for critical DFCCIL infrastructure projects.

Terms and Conditions for Deputation

The Railway Board clarified that officers on deputation will continue to receive:

  • Dearness Allowance as per Railway pay scales

  • House Rent Allowance applicable in borrowing organization

  • Joining time and travelling allowance per Railway and borrowing organization rules

  • Medical facilities either under Railway CGHS or borrowing organization options

  • Leave, retirement, and insurance benefits as per Railway service rules

The deputation terms also include entitlement to Privilege Passes and All India Leave Travel Concession for officers and families, as regulated under Railway rules.


Administrative Directives

The Ministry emphasized the following:

  • Officers must return to Railways at the end of deputation, or it will be deemed resignation from service.

  • Vigilance clearance is required during repatriation.

  • Salaries, allowances, and contributions under the New Pension Scheme (NPS) will continue as per standard rules.

Copies of the notifications have been circulated to all Principal Directors of Audit, DFCCIL management, and Railway divisions concerned.
