Rama Subramaniam Gandhi reappointed as Part Time Chairman of YES Bank
Mr. Gandhi is currently a financial sector policy expert and adviser. He advises fintech entities, investors, and funds on subjects ranging from financial regulations to the Indian economy.

Private sector lender YES Bank has announced that Mr. Rama Subramaniam Gandhi has been re-appointed as the part-time chairman of the bank for a further period from September 20, 2025, to May 13, 2027, at a remuneration approved by RBI. Mr. Gandhi is currently a financial sector policy expert and adviser. He advises fintech entities, investors, and funds on subjects ranging from financial regulations to the Indian economy.
Besides YES BANK, he is an independent director on the boards of several entities like financial markets, market infrastructure, account aggregators, information utilities, and fintech. He is a prolific speaker and covers, including these areas, a wide range of subjects. He was a Deputy Governor of the Reserve Bank of India for three years, from 2014 to 2017. He had been a seasoned and accomplished central banker for 37 years.

He had a three-year secondment to the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI), the capital market regulator. He also served as Director of the Institute for Development and Research in Banking Technology (IDRBT), Hyderabad. He has been associated with various committees, working groups, and task forces, both domestic and international.
He was one of the initial members of the Monetary Policy Committee (MPC). He was a member of the Basle Committee on Banking Supervision (BCBS) and the Committee on Global Financial Systems (CGFS), Basle. He has been educated in India and abroad. He has a master's degree in economics from Annamalai University in Tamil Nadu, India.
He also has postgraduate-level certificates in Management Information Systems from The American University, Washington, DC, USA, and in Capital Markets from the City University of New York, USA. His technical education includes a certificate course in system programming from IBM Education, Sydney, Australia. He also has a certificate in Gandhian thoughts from Madurai University, Tamil Nadu, India.
Further, he is a Certified Associate of the Indian Institute of Banking & Finance (IIBF), formerly known as the Indian Institute of Bankers (IIB), possessing skills in accounting and banking law.
