Mumbai: Reinforcing its commitment to community welfare and strengthening public healthcare infrastructure, NTPC Western Region–I has undertaken a major Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative for the revival, repairs and renovation of IPD Blocks A, B and the Annex Building at N.M. Wadia Hospital, Solapur.
The project, approved with a total outlay of ₹7.64 crore, aims to upgrade critical healthcare infrastructure at the hospital, thereby enhancing the quality of medical facilities and patient care for the people of Solapur and surrounding regions.
A MoA was signed between NTPC Western Region–I Headquarters and N.M. Wadia Hospital on 29 July 2024, marking the formal commencement of the project.
The project includes comprehensive civil repairs and renovation of the hospital’s IPD blocks, electrical works, installation of stretcher lifts, and other essential infrastructure upgrades, along with consultancy services and statutory provisions. The approved estimates cover Building A, Building B, and the Annex Building, ensuring a holistic improvement of the hospital’s inpatient facilities.
Speaking on the initiative, Shri E. Satya Phani Kumar, Regional Executive Director (West-I), said, “Healthcare remains a critical pillar of community development. Through this CSR initiative, we aim to strengthen medical infrastructure at N.M. Wadia Hospital and support improved healthcare services for the people of Solapur and surrounding regions.”
Shri B. J. C. Sastry, Head of Project, NTPC Solapur, added, “This initiative reflects NTPC’s commitment to the well-being of communities around our projects. The renovation of the hospital’s IPD blocks will significantly enhance patient facilities and contribute to better healthcare delivery. Importantly, the upgraded facilities will also benefit villagers from the surrounding areas of the NTPC Solapur Project, who often rely on Solapur city for quality medical care and emergency treatment.”
Ms. Vandana Chaturvedi, Regional Head of Human Resources (West-I), noted, “NTPC’s CSR initiatives are guided by the vision of creating sustainable and meaningful impact in society. Supporting healthcare infrastructure such as N.M. Wadia Hospital is a step towards improving quality of life and strengthening community welfare.”
Villagers from nearby areas have also expressed optimism about the initiative. Many residents from villages surrounding the NTPC Solapur Project travel to Solapur city for specialised treatment and hospital care. With the renovation of key inpatient facilities at N.M. Wadia Hospital, they expect better medical infrastructure, improved patient care, and quicker access to treatment, which will be particularly beneficial during medical emergencies.
Through this CSR initiative, NTPC WR-I HQs continue to contribute to strengthening healthcare infrastructure and advancing community well-being in the region of Solapur, including the rural communities residing near the NTPC Solapur Project.
