New Delhi, May 23, 2026: Narendra Modi met Marco Rubio on Friday, as both sides reviewed the growing momentum in India-U.S. bilateral relations and discussed key regional and global developments.

During the meeting, Secretary Rubio briefed the Prime Minister on the continued progress in cooperation between India and the United States across multiple strategic sectors.

 

Focus on Defence, Trade and Strategic Technologies

According to the official statement issued by PIB Delhi, discussions covered a broad range of areas including:

  • Defence cooperation

  • Strategic and emerging technologies

  • Trade and investment

  • Energy security

  • Connectivity initiatives

  • Education partnerships

  • People-to-people ties

The meeting highlighted the deepening strategic partnership between India and the United States amid evolving global geopolitical dynamics.

 

Discussions on Regional and Global Issues

Marco Rubio also shared the U.S. perspective on various international and regional developments, including the situation in West Asia.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi reiterated India’s consistent support for global peace efforts and emphasized the importance of resolving conflicts through dialogue and diplomacy.

The Prime Minister reaffirmed India’s long-standing position advocating peaceful and diplomatic solutions to international disputes.

 

Greetings Conveyed to President Trump

During the interaction, Prime Minister Modi requested Secretary Rubio to convey his warm greetings to Donald Trump and expressed his desire for continued engagement and exchanges between the two leaders.

The meeting comes amid expanding India-U.S. strategic cooperation and growing alignment on key global issues.
