SJVN Completes 72-Hour Trial Run of 660 MW Unit-2 at Buxar Thermal Power Project
Shimla / Bihar, 31 August 2026: SJVN Limited has successfully completed the 72-hour trial run of the 660 MW Unit-2 of its 1,320 MW Buxar Thermal Power Project in Bihar.
SJVN Chairman & Managing Director Shri Bhupender Gupta congratulated the employees and stakeholders on the achievement. He said the company is now ready for the commercial operation of Unit-2.
Director (Personnel) Shri Ajay Kumar Sharma called it a significant milestone and praised the team for their hard work and commitment despite challenges.
Director (Finance) Shri Parthajit De noted that the successful trial run strengthens SJVN’s generation portfolio and its position as a multi-dimensional energy company.
Director (Projects) Shri Rajesh Kumar Chandel also congratulated the team and described it as an important step in SJVN’s thermal power journey.
The Buxar project is being developed by SJVN Thermal Private Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of SJVN. It uses supercritical technology for higher efficiency and lower environmental impact. Once fully commissioned, the two 660 MW units are expected to generate about 9,828.72 million units of electricity every year.
