The World Bank Group has appointed Gaël Raballand as its new Country Manager for Tajikistan, effective December 1, 2025. He will oversee all World Bank operations in the country, including IBRD, IDA, IFC, and MIGA, providing a single point of contact for the organization’s programs.

Raballand, a French national, has over 20 years of World Bank experience, including roles as Practice Manager for Governance in West Africa and Senior Public Sector Specialist in multiple regions. He holds a PhD in Economics from Sorbonne University.

Upon his appointment, Raballand emphasized his focus on economic growth, private sector development, and job creation to drive sustainable development. Tajikistan’s World Bank portfolio includes 26 active IDA projects totaling nearly US$2 billion and IFC financing of about US$70 million for private-sector initiatives across key sectors.

His appointment comes as Tajikistan works to accelerate development, strengthen the private sector, and enhance resilience to economic and climate challenges, signaling the World Bank’s renewed commitment to inclusive growth.
