Xi Jinping Holds Talks with South Korean President Lee Jae Myung in Beijing
Chinese President Xi Jinping held talks with President of the Republic of Korea (ROK) Lee Jae Myung in Beijing on Monday, reaffirming the importance of strengthening bilateral ties and expanding cooperation across key sectors.
President Xi noted that he and President Lee have met twice and conducted reciprocal visits, reflecting the high priority both sides place on China–ROK relations. As close neighbors and partners, Xi said the two countries should enhance exchanges and maintain frequent communication to promote mutual understanding and trust.
Xi emphasized that China has consistently placed relations with the ROK high on its regional diplomatic agenda and maintained stability and continuity in its Korea policy. He expressed China’s willingness to work with the ROK to uphold the direction of friendly cooperation, adhere to the principles of mutual benefit and win-win outcomes, and advance the bilateral strategic partnership in a healthy and constructive manner.
Highlighting China’s development roadmap, Xi said the recently concluded fourth plenary session of the 20th CPC Central Committee had adopted recommendations for formulating the 15th Five-Year Plan, outlining China’s development priorities for the next five years and creating new opportunities for global cooperation.
Noting the deep integration of industrial and supply chains between the two countries, Xi said China and the ROK share strong economic ties and mutually beneficial cooperation. He called for closer alignment of development strategies, stronger policy coordination, and expanded cooperation in emerging areas such as artificial intelligence, green industries, and the silver economy.
Following the talks, the two leaders witnessed the signing of cooperation documents and attended official ceremonial events at the Great Hall of the People, marking another step forward in China–ROK relations.
