CWPRS and VNIT Sign MoU to Boost Water Resources Research
CWPRS Pune and VNIT Nagpur signed an MoU on Dec 1, 2025, to strengthen joint research and capacity building in dam safety, digital twins, and AI/ML applications in water resources engineering.
The Central Water and Power Research Station (CWPRS), Pune, and Visvesvaraya National Institute of Technology (VNIT), Nagpur, formalized their academic and research partnership by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at CWPRS, Pune, on December 1, 2025.
The MoU aims to strengthen joint research efforts, promote higher academic pursuits, encourage knowledge exchange, and support capacity building in areas of mutual interest.

his collaboration will specifically focus on addressing emerging challenges through promising avenues such as dam safety and rehabilitation, the use of digital twins, and AI/ML applications in water resources engineering. Both institutions, led by Dr. Prabhat Chandra, Director, CWPRS, and Prof. Prem Lal Patel, Director, VNIT, emphasized that this partnership will help translate research from laboratory innovation directly to industry application, fostering practical and scalable solutions for the nation's water and infrastructure sectors.
