Delhi Metro and Chennai Metro signed agreement for three corridors of Chennai Metro’s Phase-II
As per the agreement, DMRC will provide Operation and Maintenance services for a period of approximately 15 years.

New Delhi, July 3, 2025: Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) and Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) yesterday signed an agreement for Operation and Maintenance services for three corridors of Chennai Metro’s Phase-II: Corridor-3 (Madhavaram Milk Colony to Siruseri SIPCOT-II Metro - Indigo Line), Corridor- 4 (Lighthouse to Poonamallee Bypass -Orange Line) and Corridor-5 (Madhavaram Milk Colony to Sholinganallur - Red Line) including Maintenance Depots at Madhavaram, Poonamallee & Semmancheri.
As per the agreement, DMRC will provide Operation and Maintenance services for a period of approximately 15 years. The contract awarded through international competitive bidding on 2nd April 2025 covers approximately 118 km and 112 stations across Corridors 3, 4, and 5.
Scope of work includes managing various Operations and Maintenance Services which mainly include train operations, station management, depot functions and the Operational Control Centre, ensuring global-standards.

The first section of Chennai Metro Rail Limited Phase -II is expected to be operational by December, 2025 and the entire Phase-II will be operational in a phased manner by December, 2028. This marks DMRC’s second major O&M win under international bidding, following DMRCs successful bidding of Mumbai Metro Line-3 O&M Contract in 2023.
The Delhi Metro is gradually expanding its footprint in the O&M services business across India by harnessing its more than two decade of O&M expertise. To further expand its presence across globe DMRC is also vying for O&M contracts around the world
