Mumbai, March 7, 2026: Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) has partnered with the Institute of Fire, Safety & Disaster Management Studies (IFSDMS) to enhance its emergency response capabilities. The collaboration focuses on specialized live-fire training programs for HPCL officers to better manage industrial emergencies.

The agreement was signed by Dharmendra Kumar Sharma, Executive Director of Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) at HPCL, and Dharmendra Wakharikar, Chief Coordinator at IFSDMS, with Vikram Mahurkar, President of IFSDMS and Managing Director of Checkmate Group, present during the ceremony.

As a Maharatna CPSE and a leading player in India’s energy sector, HPCL operates an extensive network of refineries, depots, terminals, and over 21,000 fuel retail outlets nationwide. This partnership aims to strengthen operational preparedness by combining classroom-based learning with realistic live-fire simulations. Officers trained under this program will be better equipped to respond to high-risk industrial scenarios.

The IFSDMS training center, located near Vadodara, spans 75 acres and is equipped with industrial mock-ups, including process units and LPG facilities. The facility conducts live-fire drills designed to replicate emergencies encountered in large-scale industrial operations, giving participants hands-on experience in controlled yet realistic conditions.

Through this initiative, HPCL seeks to enhance workplace safety, improve emergency readiness, and protect critical energy infrastructure, ensuring officers can efficiently manage industrial emergencies while minimizing risk to personnel and assets.
