NABARD & IMD Sign MoU to Integrate Weather Data into DiCRA Platform
New Delhi, September 2, 2026 The National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) and the India Meteorological Department (IMD) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to integrate IMD’s agro-meteorological data products into DiCRA (Data in Climate Resilient Agriculture).
The collaboration aims to make critical weather information freely accessible to farmers, financial institutions, policymakers and researchers.
What the Integration Will Deliver
The MoU will bring together IMD’s weather intelligence with DiCRA’s geospatial datasets to generate decision-ready insights at the district and block levels. The key focus areas include:
- District and block-level weather forecasts
- Agrometeorological advisories and weather alerts
- In-situ weather observations
- Weather-linked vulnerability assessments and seasonal risk alerts
Signing Ceremony
The MoU was signed by Mr Sanjeev D. Rohilla, Chief General Manager, NABARD, and Mr Bikram Singh, Scientist-G & Head, RMC Mumbai, IMD.
The signing took place in the presence of Dr Shaji Krishnan V., Chairman, NABARD; Dr Mrutyunjay Mohapatra, Director General of Meteorology, IMD; and senior officials from both organisations.
This partnership is expected to strengthen climate-resilient agriculture by providing timely, location-specific weather intelligence to stakeholders across the agricultural value chain.
