SAIL Rourkela Accords Grand Farewell to ED (HR) Tarun Misra on Superannuation
Rourkela: A grand farewell was accorded to Mr. Tarun Misra, who superannuated from SAIL, Rourkela Steel Plant as Executive Director (Human Resources) on 31 August 2026.
Multiple farewell functions were organised to bid adieu to the senior HR leader after his long and distinguished service.
Farewell Functions
In a programme held at the ‘Manthan’ Conference Hall, Mr. Alok Verma, Director In-Charge (DIC), RSP, handed over the Service Certificate and token gifts to Mr. Misra. Senior officials including Mr. B K Giri, ED (Mines Development-CMLO), Mr. B R Palai, ED (Works), Mr. Anil Kumar, ED (MM), Mr. M P Singh, ED (Mines), Mr. S Pal Chowdhury, ED (Projects), and several Chief General Managers were present on the occasion.
In the evening, another grand farewell function was organised at Hotel Deepti, where executives of the Steel Plant and members of Deepika Mahila Sanghati bade farewell to Mr. Tarun Misra and Mrs. Pravati Misra.
Mr. Alok Verma presented the Scroll of Honour highlighting Mr. Misra’s illustrious career. The scroll was read by Mr. Subrat Kumar, CGM (HSMs and AUXs).
Tributes and Reflections
Addressing the gathering, Mr. Alok Verma described Mr. Misra as a brilliant and courageous officer who never shied away from taking tough decisions. He praised his straightforward nature and ability to take instant decisions, calling him a guiding force for juniors.
An emotional Mr. Tarun Misra reminisced about his early days at Durgapur Steel Plant and IISCO Steel Plant that shaped his personality. Reiterating his belief in empowering juniors and providing the right opportunity to the right person at the right time, he expressed optimism about SAIL’s future.
“I had an extraordinary 37-year long journey in SAIL and memories of a lifetime. I am leaving the company on retirement, but I can never retire from the love, the bonding and the trust I have received here,” said Mr. Misra.
Other Interactions
Before superannuation, Mr. Misra interacted with a large number of employees under the HR functions. Interaction sessions were held at Samadhan Conference Hall and Town Services office, where he met executives and employees of Town Services & CSR.
The farewell functions concluded with a musical programme.
