NHPC signed MoU for two major Pumped Storage Projects
New Delhi: NHPC, aligning with India’s goal of 19 GW pumped storage capacity by 2030, signed MoUs on August 6, 2025 with the Government of Chhattisgarh and Chhattisgarh State Power Generation Company Limited (CSPGCL) for developing two major Pumped Storage Projects i.e. Hasdeo Bango (800 MW) and Kurund (1000 MW) in Chhattisgarh.
The MoUs were signed in the presence of Shri Suprakash Adhikari, Director (Technical), NHPC, by Shri Rajat Gupta, Executive Director (SBD & C), NHPC, Shri Rohit Yadav, Secretary (Energy), Government of Chhattisgarh and Shri Sanjeev Kumar Katiyar, Managing Director, CSPGCL.

Shri Rohit Yadav, Secretary (Energy) Govt. of Chhattisgarh termed the MoUs a key step for Chhattisgarh’s energy security and national goals. Shri Suprakash Adhikari, Director (Technical), NHPC reaffirmed NHPC’s commitment to sustainable energy storage through this collaboration.
