NLCIL and Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore signed MoA for project on innovation in Mining at Neyveli
New Delhi: A Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) for a project on “Materials and Process Design for Alternative to Tungsten Carbide Excavator Bucket Teeth Inserts for Mining Industry” was exchanged between NLC India Limited and the Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru, today, on 28-02-2026 at the Corporate Office of NLCIL in Neyveli.
The MoA was exchanged between Shri Neeraj Kumar, CGM–Unit Head/CARD, representing NLCIL, and Dr. Pikee Priya, Assistant Professor representing the Materials Engineering Department, Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, in the august presence of Shri Prasanna Kumar Motupalli, Chairman & Managing Director, NLCIL; Shri M. Venkatachalam, Director (Power), NLCIL and Shri Rajesh Pratap Singh Sisodia, Director (Planning & Projects), NLCIL.
In line with its vision to foster impactful R&D, NLCIL, through its Centre for Applied Research & Development (CARD) has initiated structured collaborations with premier academic institutions, resulting in the signing of 13 MoAs with IISc, IITs, NITs, and State Universities, of which today’s MoA with IISc, Bangalore marks a significant milestone by addressing a critical mining requirement through indigenous material development.
This initiative by NLCIL aligns with the vision of the Prime Minister for an “Atmanirbhar Bharat” (Self-Reliant India) aiming to transform India into a self-sustaining, global economic hub by boosting domestic manufacturing and the guidance of the Minister of Coal in fostering innovation across sectors in NLCIL.
