Mahanagar Gas Limited Announces Change in Chairman; New CMD to Join from March 1
Mumbai, February 28, 2026: Mahanagar Gas Limited (MGL) has informed the stock exchanges about a change in its Board of Directors under Regulation 30 of the SEBI (Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements) Regulations, 2015.
The intimation has been submitted to both BSE Limited and National Stock Exchange of India Limited.
Sandeep Kumar Gupta Ceases as Chairman
Shri Sandeep Kumar Gupta (DIN: 07570165) will cease to be the Chairman and Director of the Company with effect from March 1, 2026. The cessation follows a nomination withdrawal letter dated February 27, 2026, issued by GAIL (India) Limited.
He will also cease to be a member of various Board Committees from the same date. The Company acknowledged his significant contribution, leadership, and guidance during his tenure as Chairman.
Deepak Gupta Appointed as Additional Director and Chairman
The Board of Directors, based on the recommendation of the Nomination and Remuneration Committee, has approved the appointment of Shri Deepak Gupta (DIN: 09503339) as an Additional Director in the category of Non-Executive Non-Independent Director, designated as Chairman of the Company.
His appointment will be effective from March 1, 2026, until further orders from GAIL, subject to shareholders’ approval.
Profile of Deepak Gupta
Shri Deepak Gupta is a distinguished Mechanical Engineer from Delhi College of Engineering (now DTU) with over 35 years of extensive experience in the oil and gas sector. He is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP®) from PMI, USA, and is known for his expertise in project management, construction management, and business development across the hydrocarbon value chain.
He has led execution of large-scale projects under various implementation models including EPC (LSTK), EPCM, OBE, and PMC. Notably, he played a pivotal role in the execution of the $19 billion Dangote Refinery and Petrochemical Complex in Nigeria, recognized as the world’s largest single-train greenfield refinery and the largest in Africa.
He also led the HMEL Bhatinda Polymer Project in India and contributed to the development of Mongolia’s first greenfield refinery project, strengthening India’s global energy engagement.
The Company confirmed that Shri Deepak Gupta is not related to any Director of MGL and is not debarred from holding the office of Director by any SEBI order or authority.
MGL stated that the disclosure has been made in compliance with applicable SEBI regulations and circulars and is for information and record of the exchanges.
