Anurag Kapil Recommended for Director Finance at NMDC Ministry of Steel

New Delhi, January 9 2026 In a major development in the public sector leadership space the Government of India Ministry of Steel Search cum Selection Committee has recommended Shri Anurag Kapil Executive Director Finance Expenditure Railway Board for appointment as Director Finance at NMDC Limited.

The decision was taken during the high level selection meeting held on January 8 2026 in New Delhi after interviewing thirteen senior finance executives from leading central public sector enterprises including SAIL GAIL REC NLC India KIOCL HSCL Grid Controller of India and NMDC.

According to the official minutes of the meeting the committee evaluated all candidates and recommended only one name for the post of Director Finance NMDC and that is Shri Anurag Kapil.

The recommendation now moves to the next stage of formal approvals as per government procedure.

This appointment is considered crucial for NMDC which plays a strategic role in Indias iron ore production and mining sector. The Director Finance post oversees the companys financial governance capital planning and compliance framework.

Further updates are expected once the appointment process is formally concluded.

Interviews Conducted

A total of 13 candidates were interviewed by the Committee for the post. The candidates included senior finance executives from leading public sector enterprises and government organisations.
