New Delhi, March 3, 2026: National Fertilizers Limited (NFL), a Navratna Public Sector Undertaking under the Government of India, has informed the stock exchanges about the assignment of additional charge of the post of Director (Finance) to Shri Mahesh Chander Gupta.

The development follows an official order issued by the Department of Fertilizers under the Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers, Government of India, dated March 3, 2026.

Appointment Details

As per Order No. 82/3/2013-HR PSU (e-28269), Shri Mahesh Chander Gupta, who is currently serving as Director (Marketing) at NFL, has been entrusted with the additional charge of Director (Finance) for a period of three months with immediate effect. The arrangement will remain in force until a regular incumbent joins the post or until further orders are issued, whichever is earlier. The assignment is subject to approval by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) through the Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT).

The company has formally intimated both the National Stock Exchange of India (NSE Symbol: NFL) and BSE Limited (Script Code: 523630) regarding this development in compliance with regulatory requirements.

Professional Background of Shri Mahesh Chander Gupta

Shri Mahesh Chander Gupta joined the Board of National Fertilizers Limited as Director (Marketing) and brings with him more than 30 years of rich and diverse experience in the energy and petrochemical sectors.

Prior to joining NFL, he was serving as Chief General Manager (Business Development – Gas) at Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL), where he led Natural Gas sourcing and marketing operations at the corporate level. During his tenure at IOCL, he played a pivotal role in expanding the natural gas business and establishing new petrochemical streams such as PTA and polymers in domestic as well as global markets.

A Management Graduate from FMS, Udaipur, and a Cost & Management Accountant (Gold Medallist), Shri Gupta has also completed advanced management programmes. Over the years, he has held key leadership roles across petroleum marketing, petrochemicals marketing, natural gas marketing, business development, and vigilance functions.

Strategic Role at NFL

In his expanded capacity, Shri Gupta is expected to play a crucial role in steering NFL’s financial and strategic direction during the interim period. As Director (Marketing), he has already been driving the company’s growth through differentiated products, market leadership initiatives, energy transition strategies, sustainability measures, globalization efforts, and strategic diversification.

His leadership is considered instrumental in strengthening NFL’s ambition toward self-sufficiency in urea production and enhancing its competitive positioning in the evolving energy and fertilizer landscape.

Regulatory Compliance

NFL has confirmed that there are no inter-se relationships between Shri Mahesh Chander Gupta and other directors of the company. Additionally, he is not debarred from holding the office of Director by virtue of any order issued by SEBI or any other authority.

The appointment underscores the government’s focus on ensuring continuity in leadership and operational stability at one of India’s leading fertilizer public sector enterprises.
