ONGC Names Satyan Kumar as Director (Strategy & Corporate Affairs) effective May 27, 2026
New Delhi, May 2026: Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Limited (ONGC), India’s largest upstream oil and gas company, has announced the appointment of Shri Satyan Kumar as Director (Strategy & Corporate Affairs), effective May 27, 2026.
The appointment has been approved by the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, Government of India, through an official communication dated May 27, 2026, and has been formally cleared by the company’s Board of Directors in accordance with SEBI (Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements) Regulations, 2015.
Shri Kumar will serve in the role until his superannuation on November 30, 2028, or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
ONGC stated that Shri Kumar is not debarred from holding the office of director by any regulatory authority or SEBI order. A detailed profile of the appointee has been submitted to stock exchanges as per regulatory requirements.
Extensive Industry Experience
Shri Satyan Kumar brings over 36 years of experience across the oil and gas value chain, including upstream operations, midstream infrastructure, petrochemicals, corporate strategy, and renewable energy initiatives.
An Electrical Engineering graduate from Dayalbagh Educational Institution, Agra, he also holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Management from MDI Gurgaon and has received advanced leadership training from ESCP-EAP, France. He has additionally been part of the Government of India’s flagship CPSE leadership development initiative, DAKSH.
Leadership Roles and Strategic Contributions
Prior to this appointment, Shri Kumar served in key leadership positions within ONGC, including Executive Director – Chief Corporate Strategy. In this role, he played a significant part in shaping ONGC’s long-term strategic roadmap, including diversification into LNG, petrochemicals, and renewable energy.
He has also held board positions in multiple group companies, including ONGC Tripura Power Company, ONGC NTPC Green Private Limited, OGL One Ltd., and Ayana Renewable Power Pvt. Ltd., where he has contributed to investments in solar, wind, and biofuel projects.
Key Infrastructure and Energy Projects
During his career, Shri Kumar has led several major infrastructure and business development projects, including captive power plants at Uran, OPaL, and Hazira, as well as the 103-km Hazira–Dahej naphtha pipeline.
He also played a key role in the development and commissioning of ONGC’s first 15 MW utility-scale solar power project and has been instrumental in expanding the company’s footprint in renewable energy, particularly in Gujarat and Rajasthan.
