POWERGRID Signs MoU with IIT Roorkee
New Delhi: Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (POWERGRID), has signed MoU with IIT Roorkee to create a sustainable future through various Energy Management initiatives in areas like Space Cooling or Heating, Lighting and Fans, Water Pumping, Power Distribution, Waste to Energy, etc.
The MoU was signed by Shri Sanjay Garg, Executive Director, POWERGRID and Prof. Ajit K. Chaturvedi, Director IIT Roorkee in presence of senior officials from POWERGRID and IIT Roorkee, at Roorkee.
With Signing of this MoU, POWERGRID has become the exclusive industry partner of IIT Roorkee in the areas of Energy Efficiency and Sustainable Energy. This MoU is a rare collaboration between the pioneers of Technical and Managerial fields. The MoU aims to provide out of the box solutions for Energy Management through sustained joint R&D efforts for efficient deployment of projects relevant to Energy sector and any other area of mutual interest. Under this MoU, POWERGRID will also make entire Campus of IIT Roorkee Energy Efficient. This landmark MoU is sure to change the face of the Energy sector when the proficient technical expertise of the diverse manpower pool of POWERGRID is accompanied by India’s premier academic institute which has a history of being trend setter in the areas of Science, Technology and Engineering.
POWERGRID has been consistently receiving highest rating i.e. 'Excellent' under MoU since signing of the first MoU in 1993-94. As on June 30, 2019, the company owns & operates over 158,297 ckm of transmission lines, 245 sub-stations and 371,912 MVA of transformation capacity. Availability of this gigantic transmission network has been consistently maintained over 99%.
