HPCL commissions first Solid Oxide Electrolyser for Green Hydrogen

State-owned oil PSU HPCL has announced a historic milestone of initiating Green Hydrogen technology at the Bengaluru refinery plant.

HPCL has commissioned India's first Solid Oxide electrolysis (SOE) for Green Hydrogen at the HP Green R&D Centre, Bengaluru.

This revolutionary technology generates 99.99% pure Green Hydrogen, using power from a captive Solar plus Wind plant.

Notably, this SOE system doesn’t rely on rare earth materials, slashing energy consumption by 20-30% compared to other electrolyzers. This is considered to be a giant leap for the Green Hydrogen Mission.
