NEW DELHI- Prof. Chetan Singh Solanki, known as the “Solar Man of India”, emphasized the severity of climate change and urged everyone to be a part of the solution, as we have all been a part of the pollution.
He was speaking at an interactive session on “Energy Literacy” organized by Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency Ltd. (IREDA) on 4th May 2023 at India Habitat Centre, New Delhi. It was one of 36 events being organized as part of the celebrations commemorating 36 years of IREDA.
Dr. Solanki, Professor from IIT Bombay and founder of the Energy Swaraj Foundation, emphasized the importance of understanding climate change and limiting energy use through the ‘AMG principle - Avoid, Minimize, and Generate.’
He suggested avoiding energy as much as possible even if it is Solar energy, and minimizing energy use through the use of efficient appliances. He encouraged the generation of energy locally, emphasizing distributed production as part of ‘Energy Swaraj’.
