Bengaluru – Karnataka is positioning itself as a global hub for digital infrastructure, driven by policy reforms, startup support, and significant investments in data centres. Hon’ble Minister Priyank M. Kharge highlighted the state’s strategic initiatives at the 8th ASSOCHAM Smart Datacenters & Cloud Infrastructure Conclave 2025.

During the event, Minister Kharge e-launched NTT’s 100 MW data centre campus in Devanhalli, Bengaluru, marking the city’s largest facility to date. Spanning 8.5 acres, the campus is equipped with a 220 kV dedicated substation, IGBC Platinum rating, renewable integration, and advanced security, delivering 22.4 MW of commissioning-ready capacity in Phase 4A.

“Over the next decade, Karnataka will focus on deep tech innovation, supporting startups with a pledge of ₹635 crores under the ‘Deep Tech Decade’ initiative,” said Minister Kharge. He also highlighted programs like Catalyst for global capability centers and LEAP (Local Economic Accelerator Program) aimed at spreading investments beyond Bangalore and fostering energy- and water-secure infrastructure.

The state’s commitment extends to workforce development, with India’s largest reskilling and upskilling program investing over ₹300 crores to ensure skilled talent for emerging technologies.

The ASSOCHAM–PwC report, “Heading Towards the Sustainable Data Hub Vision: Karnataka Leading the Way”, outlines Karnataka’s roadmap to becoming India’s sustainable digital hub. The global digital infrastructure sector is expected to exceed 2,300 data centre facilities by 2026, with India projected to attract USD 10–12 billion by 2030. Karnataka, with its strong tech talent and supportive policies, is leading this growth.

Mr. Sunil Gupta, Co-Founder & CEO of Yotta Infrastructure, emphasized the strategic importance of sustainable cloud and AI-ready infrastructure, while Mr. Manish Singhal, Secretary General of ASSOCHAM, underscored that “data centres are the oil of the 21st century,” crucial for India’s tech-led future.

Karnataka’s focus on policy reforms, green energy integration, and strategic investments reinforces its position as a leading destination for high-growth digital infrastructure, fostering economic growth, employment, and national technological capabilities.
