ECL tops among CIL subsidiaries by producing 29.08 MT during Q1 FY14
NEW DELHI . South Eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL) has maintained its top rank, like previous fiscals, by producing 29.08 million tonnes in the current financial year 2013-14 upto the month of June.
The Minister of State for Coal, Pratik Prakash Bapu Patil, in a written reply in Lok Sabha stated that the coal production by SECL, while being the highest amongst CIL subsidiaries in the last three fiscals, has seen an upward trend from 112.70 MT in 2010-11 to 113.83 MT in 2011-12 followed by a production of 118.21 MT in FY-13.
Of the total coal production of 102.87 million tonnes by the Coal India Limited (CIL) and its subsidiaries during the first quarter of the current fiscal, 23.44 million tonnes of coal produced by Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL), followed by 14.02 million tonne by Northern Coalfields Limited (NCL).
Moreover, approximately 10 MT each was produced by Central Coalfields Limited and Western coalfields Limited (WCL), whereas 8.057 MT was produced by Eastern Coalfields Limited (ECL) and 7.962 MT by Bharat Coking Coal Limited (BCCL). Notably, the total coal production by CIL subsidiaries has increased over the last three financial years, from 431.32 MT in 2010-11 to 435.83 million tonne in 2011-12, followed by a production of 452.19 million tonne in 2012-13. This has translated into an increase of 1% and 3.7% in 2011-12 and 2012-13 respectively.
